Stacey Strout Obituary

Stacey Strout (nee Genin), age 73, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center from complications of kidney disease. A resident of Monroe, NJ, Stacey had lived in Hamilton Sq. NJ for many years prior to moving to Monroe. A graduate of Steinert H.S., she received degrees from both Mercer County Community College and Trenton State College (now the College of NJ), and was retired from The State of NJ Division of Labor, where she served as a hearing officer for the appeals tribunal for Unemployment. Daughter of the late Daniel and Edith Genin, Stacey was a talented musician, playing both flute and violin, had been a member of the marching band and orchestra at Steinert, and would later play with the pit band in Steinert’s musicals as a “ringer”. Stacey loved Broadway shows and attended countless musicals. She also performed in musical productions put on by the residents of Clearbrook in Monroe, and helped to write and produce one of their shows. In addition, Stacey loved to crochet, do word puzzles and searches and spend time with her girlfriends – often traveling to the casinos in Atlantic City on bus trips. Stacey was a loyal friend to many, providing companionship, a listening ear and loving support to anyone who needed her. Generous and kindhearted, she was also extremely quick-witted and intelligent, and had what seemed like an unending supply of funny stories and jokes to tell. Predeceased by her parents, her brother Mark, her husband Elliott and her beloved dog Louie, she will be sorely missed by her sisters Merideth and Gina Genin (Greg Rizzo), her live-in caregiver Valentina as well as many others who knew and loved her. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Stacey’s life at a Memorial Service to be held at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 1310 Prospect St., Ewing Twp. NJ 08638 on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 11 AM – 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stacey’s name may be made to the American Kidney Fund, Rockville MD or to the animal rescue organization of the donor’s choice.
