Hamilton-- Philip Ricigliani, 96, of Hamilton died September 2, 2020 surrounded by his family. Born in Trenton he was a lifelong area resident. After high school he served in the Navy. He served in the Pacific during World War II as a gunners mate aboard the cruiser USS Montpelier and the subchaser USS PC 1256 fighting in the Guadalcanal and Mariana and Palau Islands campaigns.. He was awarded the American Campaign medal and the Asiatic Pacific campaign medal with two battle stars. After the war ended he joined the Army and served in occupied Germany and Austria as Sergeant of an MP platoon. He was awarded both Army and Navy good conduct medals. After his service he came home and worked at US Steel and later became a carpenter. Son of the late Vincenzo and Filomena Brenna Ricigliani , father of the late Phyllis Jean Ricigliani , grandfather of the late Nicholas Ricigliani and Nicholas S. Abbott, brother of the late Frank Ricigliani , Nick Ricigliani, Jean Pollack and Angelina Spadicino, first cousin and best friend of the late Leonard SanPalo , he is survived by sons Philip Ricigliani, Frank ( Lynda Argenti) Ricigliani, a daughter Debra (Mark) Ricigliani Abbott, a sister Mildred Corti , grandchildren Frank N.(Elizabeth) Ricigliani , Marc Abbott, Vanessa (Doug) Abbott McClain , greatgrandchildren Francesca Abbott , Vivienne and Gwen Mclain. Funeral services will be held privately.
