Catherine Balgowan

Hamilton--  Catherine Balgowan died  March 12, 2021, her 93rd birthday, at Robert Wood Johnson Hosp. Hamilton.

  Born March 12, 1928 in Aberdeenshire , Scotland to James Smith Bell and Nellie Clark Bell. She married Murdoch "Sam" Balgowan in 1951. During his service in the British Royal Air Force she joined him on the island of Malta.

    Cathie and Sam immigrated to New Jersey with their two sons in 1955, and lived in Hamilton since 1963.

    Cathie worked for the New Jersey Synod of the Lutheran Church of America in Hamilton from 1962 until her retirement in 1990.

     Daughter of the late James and Nellie  Bell, sister of the late Peggy and James , wife of the late Sam she is survived by her sons Richard(Caren) , Dennis(Linda), six grandchildren Heather (Rob Pinard) Balgowan, Christopher (Regina) Balgowan, Richard Balgowan, Rebecca Balgowan, Megan Strahle, Benjamin Strahle, five great grandchildren , several nieces and nephews.

Cathie will be remembered by all who knew her for her generosity, her concern for others, her wonderful backyard picnics for family and friends and her pride in her Scottish origins.

   A memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
