Bruce Winkler Obituary

Bruce Jerome Winkler of Yardley, died on April 20, 2023 at Arden Courts. He was 76.

Born in the Bronx, Bruce grew up in Queens, where he attended Jamaica High School and then earned his bachelor’s degree and M.B.A. in Accounting from Bernard M. Baruch College. He went on to become a CPA, proudly passing his exam on his first try at the age of 24.

While he was proud of his scholastic achievements, they paled in comparison to his most significant achievement — meeting his future wife Marilyn when they were just teenagers. High school sweethearts, they attended prom together and then got engaged after high school. They married in 1967, then went on to start their family, moving to East Brunswick in 1971 where he played on the Mr. Peanut Softball League, bowled, and worked as an auditor.

Bruce then moved the family to Redding, CT where he became treasurer then president of Temple Shearith Israel, then spent most of his remaining years in West Windsor, NJ, raising his kids and enjoying life with Marilyn, taking cruises, trying his luck in Atlantic City, and singing doo-wop songs from his childhood. He was also an animal lover, having a menagerie of dogs and cats over the years.

Bruce was predeceased by his wife Marilyn and is survived by daughter Ellen Winkler Buchsbaum (David Klein), son Michael (Jamie) Winkler, beloved grandchildren Jeremy and Ian Buchsbaum and Danielle and Evan Winkler, Tony Buchsbaum, as well as several nieces and nephews, family and friends. He will be terribly missed by all.

Funeral services are Sunday, 10:30AM at Riverside Memorial Chapels in Ewing, NJ. Entombment will follow at 1:15PM at Cedar Park Cemetery (Sanctuary of Abraham & Sarah) in Paramus, NJ.

Shiva will be observed at daughter Ellen’s home on Sunday & Wednesday 6PM-9PM (Minyan at 7:30), and Monday & Tuesday 6PM-9PM (Minyan at 7:30) at son Michael’s home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bruce’s name to the ASPCA or the Alzheimer’s Association.
